Travel Safe with AIS
The Furuno FA50 Class B AIS is capable of exchanging information about your vessel with other Automatic Identification System enabled ships in your area. The AIS FA50 transmits and receives information using your VHF radio antenna. There are a few different types of information available using the FA50 . There is the Static Data which includes the MMSI identification, Call Sign, type of ship and location of position-fixing antenna on the ship. There is also Dynamic Data available using the FA50 AIS, this data includes Ship’s position, Course over ground, Speed over ground, and heading. There is also Voyage Related Data, which would give you hazardous cargo and the type, as well as Short safety-related messages, pre-set messages.
The FA50 AIS provides you with the identities and information of vessels surrounding you and provides them with similar information, which can be an enormous asset when navigating congested waterways. With the use of Furuno’s FA50 your situational awareness in low light conditions is greatly enhanced which increases your safe navigation practice.
