Garmin Colorado, Crisp Handheld Navigation
The Colorado 300 is the entry level unit in the Garmin Colorado handheld GPS family; however it is still overflowing with features. Built right into the Colorado 300's 5.5”H x 2.4”W body is a generous 3” diagonal color display that is viewable in any lighting condition, even direct sunlight. Also jammed inside the waterproof case is a high sensitivity WAAS GPS receiver, electronic compass, barometric altimeter and a temperature sensor. With the Garmin Colorado 300, Garmin enables you to wirelessly transmit tracks, waypoints, routes and geocaches to other Colorado units, no messing with a PC required. The Colorado 300 will last for up to 15 hours on just two AA batteries.
Loaded to every Colorado 300 GPS is a worldwide basemap with shaded relief for incredibly enhanced presentation. You will also have major highways and interstates across the United States pre-loaded with shoreline detail of large lakes and rivers as well as a rough coastline of the United States. This map can be further enhanced with the addition of Garmin’s optional Mapsource products like US Topo 2008, City Navigator NT and Bluechart. All you need is an SD card to store the optional detailed maps and the Mapsource title itself. By adding the City Navigator NT software, the Colorado will then be able to guide you with on screen text, turn-by-turn directions for navigating in your vehicle. Topo 2008 will enhance your map for all of your outdoor hunting and hiking adventures and the Bluechart will offer detailed marine maps for coastal and Great Lakes navigation. Garmin has also made many of its more popular Mapsource titles available pre-loaded to SD cards, including Topo USA 2008, Bluechart Americas and City Navigator NT North America and Europe. There is no need to connect to your PC for map uploading when using the pre-programmed cards.
The features do not stop there. The Colorado 300 handheld GPS is also compatible with the optional Garmin heart rate and speed/cadence sensor. You can even setup different user profiles for auto, marine, recreation and geocaching situations.
