The new Garmin GPS 60 is a multi-purpose Handheld GPS that will not break the bank and will be great for your next hiking, hunting, boating or geocaching adventure. The GPS 60 features a 2.6” diagonal, transflective backlit, and monochrome display with 160x240 resolution for perfect views in any lighting. Like the other units in Garmin’s 60 series, GPS 60 has a powerful 12-channel WAAS antenna that can provide 3 meter accuracy and reliable tracking. The Garmin 60 is a non-mapping unit that features Garmin’s built in Marine Point Database for the Americas, plus Worldwide cities. Garmin also gave the GPS 60 1MB of memory to load additional POI’s from their optional MapSource Points of Interest CD-ROM.
The GPS 60 has both a USB and a Serial port connection, for speed and versatility. The serial port connection will allow you to transfer data via NMEA protocol and the USB interface will allow faster downloads to and from Garmin’s MapSource programs.
If you are new to GPS do not worry, the GPS 60 features an ultra easy to use operating system, plus a specific geocaching navigation mode. The GPS 60 includes the Hunt and Fish calculator, which gives you the best fishing and hunting times for each day, sunrise and sunset times, and the current moon phase.. The GPS 60 features alarms for anchor drag, arrival, off-course, proximity waypoint and an alarm clock. The GPS 60 has memory for 50 Reversible routes, 10,000 track points, and 1,000 waypoints. Two AA batteries power the GPS 60 unit, for up to 28 hours of use. Other features include indoor and outdoor games and a dedicated trip computer page, which provides trip information such as Max speed, stopped time, and overall average.
