A Popular Garmin Handheld with an Expandable Memory Makeover.
Garmin's new development on the popular 60 series handhelds has made the new GPSMAP 60Cx a winner among outdoor and marine handheld gps. With the improvement to allow removable microSD card memory, the 60Cx has made some increasing headway into the future of expandable waterproof GPS units. Because the microSD card slot is positioned in the sealed battery compartment, users can rest assure their data will not be compromised. The Garmin 60Cx has a new highly sensitive GPS receiver for increased satellite acquisition in heavy tree coverage and deep canyons.
One of the best features of the 60Cx is the large 256-color screen stretching at 2.6" diagonal area. The color screen allows for better reading of MapSource key icons and routes and provides premium viewing while maximizing your battery life (30 hours, typical use), and Garmin's new faster processor provides enhanced capabilities and tracking. Another great feature is the ability to have the GPS calculate a turn-by-turn route for you with text directions using the pre-loaded basemap.
The GPSMAP 60Cx also comes with a preloaded Americas auto route basemap which gives you highways, and routing capabilities. Included with the device is a 64MB microSD card to store the optional MapSource detailed maps like City Navigator, TOPO and Bluechart. Larger microSD cards can be purchased to further expand your available memory. Garmin has also made many of its more popular Mapsource titles available on pre-loaded microSD cards, including Topo USA, Bluechart Americas, and City Navigator Europe. There is no need to connect to you PC for map uploading when using the pre-programmed cards.
Behind the scenes, the GPSMAP 60Cx has a 12-channel WAAS receiver with a built-in Quad Helix antenna for improved reception and better accuracy. Additional features include audible alarms, an integrated outdoor calendar, 20 saved tracks, best fish & hunt times calculator, a dedicated geo-caching mode, and indoor/outdoor GPS games that turn the outdoors into a giant game-board.
