Garmin Nuvi 780 GPS with MSN Direct
MSN Direct content is now available in the Garmin Nuvi 700 series, with addition of the Nuvi 780. The Garmin Nuvi 780 offers the same core features as the rest of the Garmin Nuvi 700 series, but adds the MSN Direct receiver to the package for expanded capabilities. As always the Nuvi is housed in a slim, .8” thick case and weighs only 6.1 ounces, allowing you to carry it along with you on foot or conveniently mount it right to your windshield. The ultra bright 4.3” diagonal color touch screen is viewable in any lighting condition and makes for easy and fast operation. At the heart of the unit is a high sensitivity, 12-channel WAAS GPS receiver for fast acquisitions and superior GPS reception.
As always Garmin includes detailed Navteq maps for all of North America, as well as over 6 million Points of Interest. The Points of interest are grouped by such categories as Hotels, restaurants, ATM’s, gas stations and more, the restaurant category can also be refined by the type of cuisine you are looking to eat. Using the touch screen, just enter the address or POI that you are traveling to and the unit will guide you there safely with both verbal and on screen turn-by-turn directions. With Text-to-Speech routing you will also verbally hear the name of the street that you are turning onto. If you make a wrong turn the Nuvi 780 will recalculate your directions and get you right back on your way.
Included with every Nuvi 780 is an MSN Direct receiver and a 3-month free subscription to MSN Direct services. MSN Direct service offers access to Real time information on gas prices, weather conditions, traffic reports to route you around delays and construction, local movie times with ratings and movie genre, news and stock reports, and local event information for sporting events, festivals, and concerts. You also have the ability to plan trips and locate destinations using Windows Live Local on your PC with the ability to wirelessly send this information to the Nuvi 780. The MSN Direct is currently available in over 100 cities and the information is broadcast over FM frequency directly to the MSN Direct receiver which is part of the Nuvi 780’s cigarette lighter adapter. Other features include Garmin’s “Where Am I?” feature to give you your position and local emergency services and their telephone numbers. The Nuvi 780 will also mark its position when it is removed from the vehicle mount so it can safely navigate you back to your parked vehicle. Garmin Lock feature, speed limit indicator and Bluetooth technology for hands free calling are also included.
