Garmin has added another unit to their popular e-Trex Family with Venture HC. The Venture HC is very similar to other the Garmin E-Trex color units, with its 256-color, high resolution, TFT display that measures 1.3” x 1.7” and a resolution of 176 x 220. The Venture HC includes a highly sensitive12-Channel WAAS built-in patch antenna for accuracy down to 9 feet. Weighing in at 5.6 ounces, including two AA alkaline batteries, the Venture HC will help you travel light while providing up to 32 hours of use.
Built into the the Venture HC is 24MB of memory for loading additional maps from the Garmin Mapsource family of products. The Venture HC still includes the routable Americas Recreational basemap, including major highways, interstates and bigger lakes and rivers. If you want to load detailed maps from the other Garmin Mapsource products you can. You just need to purchase the optional Mapsource software, load it to the on board memory and the Venture HC will be able to display map detail.
Each Venture HC is loaded with audible alarms for off-course, proximity waypoints, and anchor drag. The operation of the Venture HC is very easy allowing a novice to use it for hiking, biking, Geocaching, or getting you to your favorite fishing holes. Other features include: storage for 500 waypoints with symbol, 10,000 tracklog points, stopwatch, hunting/fishing calendar, and trip computer.
