Fully Loaded Navigation with Voice Address Input!
The TomTom 920 has every feature the savvy traveler could want. Starting with the specs, the 4.3” color display is extra wide and sunlight viewable. Built into the case is a high sensitivity GPS receiver for excellent signal acquisition and lock. You also get the benefits of TomTom’s MapShare and “Help Me!” technologies built right in. What sets the TomTom 920 apart from the rest is the voice prompted address entry, which means you can speak your destinations street address to the 920 and it will begin routing you there. The 920’s internal battery will power the unit without recharging for approximately 2-3 hours.
What is Map Share Technology?
The TomTom 920 is pre-loaded with detailed TeleAtlas maps for the United States, Canada and Europe, plus millions of points of interest. Because roads change, TomTom has setup the ability for you, the user to edit or change the pre-loaded maps. You are able to mark blocked or unblocked streets, insert the new name of a street, and even reverse the direction of a One Way street. Changes will immediately take effect in your TomTom 920. You are also able to share your changes and capture changes from other Map Share users via the include TomTom HOME software.
Using the touch screen, enter the address or point of interest that you are traveling to and the system will route you there. The TomTom 920 gives you 4 different routing options: quickest, shortest, avoid toll roads and by required arrival time. You can also chose between a traditional overhead view of the map or a 3-D view for a true perspective of what is ahead. Once you are on your way the unit will guide you along with verbal turn-by-turn directions through either its powerful built in speaker or the built-in wireless FM modulator, which will send them over your car stereo speakers. You will also get Text-to-speech guidance, which not only tells you when to turn but also speaks the name of the street that you are turning onto. If you miss a turn the unit will recalculate your directions and get you right back on track.
With the addition of a BlueTooth capable phone* you can use the TomTom 920 as a hands free calling device and to connect to the TomTom Plus services. Handsfree capability will allow you to answer incoming calls or to make calls to your phone book entries or selected points of interest. TomTom Plus services* can provide real-time traffic and weather, as well as new voices for your TomTom unit. The unit also has the ability to connect to an optional traffic receiver for real time traffic information. The optional traffic receiver will send traffic tie-ups, construction and other delays to the TomTom 920. The unit will then use the traffic data to calculate a new route to get you to your destination with minimal delays.
The TomTom “Help me!” menu allows easy access to emergency services. With the touch of the screen the 920 can give you details and guide you to emergency services such as police and fire stations, as well as hospitals. And with a Bluetooth phone connected you can call the emergency services with one touch.
