Chad McCumbee Comes Home Solid at Michigan
Young Driver Qualifies Up Front and Steers Car to 19th
Chad McCumbee’s weekend at Michigan International Speedway started off good and seemed to only be getting better. The young driver was able to secure a top-10 starting spot in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event for his No. 08 theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet and he was able to stay up front for the majority of the race.
“I am really happy with our performance at Michigan,” said McCumbee. “The guys have just done a great job. We qualified eighth which was awesome for us, and we had a really good and fast truck all day long.”
Some small mishaps happened along the way that prevented the team from competing for the win, but that wasn’t enough to stop them from bringing home a top-20 finish as McCumbee was able to steer the No. 08 to a 19th place finish despite the obstacles that were thrown in his way.
“We had just had a couple of mishaps in the pits and a little bit of bad luck throughout the race that prevented us from being able to get the finish that the truck deserved,” added McCumbee. “We have a couple of things that I know we can work on, but I think that we are headed into a real positive direction as we get ready to head to Milwaukee.”
Chad and theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet will be in action Friday, June 22, 2007 at the Milwaukee Mile.
