15” Touchscreen GPS/Chartplotter allowing Full System Integration
The Garmin GPSMAP 8215 GPS/Chartplotter was designed by one of the industry’s leading team of engineers at Garmin with a top priority of creating the most advanced MFD available to consumers while also maintaining the intuitivism that they have been providing their users with for years. The 8215 represents the most modern marine electronics in both functionality and its stunning design. The redesigned menu interfaces along with the advanced networking capabilities of this Garmin chartplotter are sure to capture the eye of all boating enthusiasts.
The 8215 boasts a brilliant, 15”LCD multi-touch glass display that provides crystal clear viewing of optional components such as; Radar, XM Weather, Autopilot, sonar technologies, Engine Data and much more. The GPSMAP 8000 Series allows for sonar sources on the same system; scanning sonar and high end CHIRP. The advanced housing design of the 8215 uses a sleek low profile and offers improved mounting capabilities from earlier MFD’s while maintaining the performance that Garmin has always offered.
Pre-loaded Bluechart G2 data gives you exceptional detail for coastal navigation of the entire US for offshore and ICW use. Information such as currents, tides, spot soundings and more are all included for your navigational use via the pre-loaded charting. If the mapping and data provided in the 8215 isn’t enough, you can always upgrade those charts with a Garmin G2 Vision card which will enhance what you already have. The upgrade of the G2 vision card for a specified area will provide you with detailed bathymetric charts, aerial photos of marinas and slip layouts, detailed views below your boat, and more.
The included GPS19x smart antenna updates up to 10 times per second for impeccable refresh rates and faster map redraws. As you navigate, you will notice the boat icon flawlessly tracking and displaying on the chart so you can easily and more accurately mark and navigate to one of the 5,000 waypoints allowed to be stored to the internal memory of the GPSMAP 8215. With Garmin's Helm app you can also view and control the 8215 from your iPhone, iPad or Android v4.03 or later.
Adding to the capability of the GPSMAP 7400, 7600, and 8000 series these plotters can control and stream video from the VIRB X/XE camera. You can now connect up to 5 VIRB X/XE cameras at one time. The screen of the chartplotter can be split to view up to four of the cameras at once, while each camera can be named for easy identification. Not only can you stream video but you actually gain control of each camera and its functions. G-Metrix data can be sent through a NMEA 2000 network and overlaid on the screen using the VIRB X/XE camera. Record video or take snapshots using your VIRB X/XE and with the Garmin Helm App you can save, share and view on the screen of your marine device.
Now Compatible with GCV10 Sonar Get crystal clear images below and to the sides of your boat. It works by sending a continuous sweep of frequencies ranging from low to high that are interpreted individually upon return versus one frequency sent by standard sonars. The result is an unsurpassed, ultra-clear and high-resolution image. Utilizing a 12-pin DownVu/SideVu transducer (20 ft. cable) with a fast temperature sensor, enhanced target separation, a transmit frequency of 455/800kHz and a transmit power of 500 W per element, no fish are safe. Maximum depths include 750 ft. with DownVu and 500 ft. left and right with the SideVu feature. The GCV 10 also has the ability to expand with 3 network ports provided for advanced networking for multiple units.
Garmin has truly outdone themselves once again with the creation of the GPSMAP 8215MFD. Packed with awesome features that will impress even the most tech savvy of boaters, yet intuitive enough for any user to operate, the 8215 is sure to be at the top of many boaters wish lists.
