Garmins updated LiveScope 2 HD LVS42HD is designed for anglers who demand the sharpest live sonar image available. The LVS42HD delivers up to 50 percent more detail and up to 20 percent higher resolution than previous LiveScope models. Operating on an ultra high frequency range of 850 kHz to 1,600 kHz with 521 watts of transmit power, it produces incredibly crisp returns with fewer sonar artifacts. One of its biggest advantages is target separation of just 3.8 inches at 30 feet, allowing anglers to distinguish individual fish that are holding tight to brush piles, docks, standing timber, rock piles, or grass. Even at 100 feet, target separation remains an impressive 12.6 inches, making it easier to identify fish around offshore structure.

Coverage has also been expanded across every viewing mode. Forward Mode now provides a wide 165 degree viewing angle while Down Mode and Perspective Mode each deliver 180 degrees of coverage. That wider field of view means bass anglers can scan more water with fewer trolling motor adjustments while coastal anglers can monitor bait schools, oyster bars, bridge pilings, docks, and shallow reefs more efficiently. The LVS42HD also tracks bottom out to 125 feet in both Forward and Down modes, making it an excellent choice for anglers who prioritize image quality and fish detail over maximum depth.

Another major improvement is the simplified installation. The LVS42HD no longer requires a separate black box, connecting directly to a compatible Garmin chartplotter through the Garmin BlueNet network. Built in sensors automatically disable sonar transmission when the transducer is out of the water, provide accurate water temperature readings, and improve image stabilization in rough conditions. With a compact 5.2 inch by 5.3 inch housing, 18 foot cable, adjustable Perspective mount, and support for 10 to 35 volt systems, it installs cleanly on nearly any modern fishing boat.
