Compact Marine VHF with GPS and AIS Receiver
The Garmin Signal VHF 220 is a feature packed marine radio designed to provide dependable communication and enhanced situational awareness for boaters and sailors. Featuring a sleek 3.5 inch color touchscreen display, the VHF 220 offers an intuitive interface that is easy to use in a variety of conditions while maintaining a compact footprint at the helm. Its integrated AIS receiver allows you to monitor nearby AIS equipped vessels, making it easier to stay informed and navigate confidently in busy waterways and coastal passages.
The built in AIS receiver displays important vessel information including range, course, speed, and potential crossing situations. This added visibility helps captains identify nearby traffic and make better informed navigation decisions. Unlike an AIS transponder, the VHF 220 receives AIS data from other vessels but does not transmit your vessel's position. Class D Digital Selective Calling enhances onboard safety by allowing rapid distress communication and direct vessel to vessel calling when connected to compatible systems.
Designed for clear communication in real world marine environments, the VHF 220 incorporates adaptive noise cancellation technology that reduces interference from wind, waves, and engine noise. Automated squelch minimizes unwanted radio chatter, while audio playback allows users to replay missed transmissions from the previous three minutes. Advanced watch modes continuously monitor channel 16 along with selected favorite channels, helping boaters stay aware of important communications, weather updates, and vessel traffic.
Installation is straightforward thanks to the radio's built in GPS receiver and support for a single VHF antenna for VHF and DSC functions. The VHF 220 integrates seamlessly with compatible Garmin chartplotters through NMEA 2000 and the Garmin BlueNet network, while built in Wi Fi enables convenient setup, MMSI programming, and software updates through the ActiveCaptain app. With rugged IPX7 water resistance, support for remote stations, external speakers, loudhailer functionality, and reliable 25 watt transmit power, the Garmin Signal VHF 220 is an excellent communication solution for sailors, cruisers, and recreational boaters seeking advanced features without the need for AIS transmission.
